Strong finish to 2022 &Ā gainingĀ momentum for 2023
Since 2020, our mission has been to promote classical music & musicians from the sub-continent and to build and strengthen music communities. This year, we doubled down on that goal, registered as a non-profit 501(c)(3) in California, organized 3 baithaks, and 2 workshops with visiting & local artists, all while constantly dodging COVID surges. Phew š

Our founding
Classical musicians in India were hit hard during the pandemicĀ because the two primary revenue streams,Ā live events and teaching, were barred from public life. For an art form that thrives in small groups, COVID was particularly devastating.Ā
Originally started by a small group of volunteers, who raised moneyĀ to supportĀ artists andĀ hold virtual concerts for a small audiences in the US.Ā Encouraged by feedback from the local community, a small group of volunteers formally incorporated Sangeethaamsha as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2022. Our goal now is to nurture, teach, produce, or provide access to a variety of arts experiences encompassing the visual, media, or performing arts, with particular intent to promote the rich heritage of the Classical Hindustani music to the young members of the community as well as the mainstream population in the U.S. Founded and operated by a group of volunteers from Silicon Valley, CA and the greater San Francisco area.Ā
Our performances are typically organized in the āBaithakā style, which provides an intimate exchange of experience between the artist and the performer.Ā This style elevates appreciation of the music, accelerates learning, and importantly, helps interpret artistās musical expression. We also hold free-workshops and invite visiting guests, teachers, and artists to perform in intimate venues. Please visit our website sangeethaamsha.com to learn more.Ā
